Handgun Level 4

Handgun level 4 is a fast-paced course with one common objective: surviving a deadly force encounter armed with a handgun.

This is not an entry level course; students are expected to have already mastered basic handgun skills, safety, and foundational shooting drills.

To receive a certificate of completion, students will be required to demonstrate proper safe gun handling of a pistol in any environment through 16 hours of training.

Prerequisites:

This is an intermediate level class. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, foundational marksmanship skills, and working from a holster.

Firearm:

Available for rent.

Holster:

It's nicer to have your own gear or rent.

Belt:

It's nicer to have your own gear.

Protection:

Eyes and ears protection will be provided.

  • Responsible Firearms Ownership and Defensive Applications of the Pistol
  • Selection of Defensive and Training Ammunition
  • Turning and Shooting
  • Shooting while Moving
  • Understanding what Constitutes a Deadly Threat
  • Review of Tactical Communication, Searching and Scanning, and Threat Identification
  • Intro to Shooting in Low-Light Conditions
  • Decision Making Scenarios with UTMs
  • Firearms Safety that Works in the Home, Workplace, Vehicle, in Training, and in Carry 
  • Selection of Defensive and Training Ammunition
  • Dealing with Multiple Threats
  • Moving then shooting
  • Non-Standard Shooting Positions
  • Utilization of Cover and Concealment
  • Single Hand Only Shooting and Manipulating
  • Tourniquet Overview and Application
